Itel A50C Highlights
The Itel A50C, unveiled in August 2024, is one of the most affordable smartphones running Android 14 (Go edition) on the market, starting at just KSh 8,900. While it isn't aiming to compete with high-end devices, it does offer solid essentials for everyday use, especially for those on a tight budget.
Design and Display
The phone comes with a 6.56 inch IPS display, which offers 16 million colors but a relatively low resolution of 540 x 1208 pixels. This results in a pixel density of 202 ppi, which isn’t the sharpest but does the job for basic social media and video watching. The dynamic bar notifications add a bit of flair, making it easier to track notifications quickly.
Performance and Software
Running on Android 14 Go Edition, the Itel A50C is designed to be lightweight, making it ideal for entry level hardware. It is powered by the Unisoc T603 processor, which handles basic apps and multitasking. However, it may struggle with more demanding applications.
Camera and Security
The phone features an 8MP rear camera with an LED flash for decent photos in well-lit conditions. It's enough for simple photography needs. For security, the Itel A50C includes both fingerprint and face unlock, offering some modern conveniences at an affordable price.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Equipped with a 4000mAh battery, the phone offers decent usage time but only comes with 5W charging, which means it will take a while to fully recharge. On the connectivity side, it supports 4G, 3G, and 2G networks, along with USB Type-C, which is a nice addition for faster data transfer and charging.
The Itel A50C is a great option if you're looking for a very affordable smartphone with basic functionality. While it lacks the power or premium features of more expensive models, it covers the essentials and is a solid choice for first time smartphone users or those who need a secondary device.
