What is the EcoFlow RIVER 3 best suited for?

The standard RIVER 3 is a compact power station with a 245Wh LiFePO₄ battery. It is suitable for charging personal electronics and powering compatible low to moderate wattage devices during camping trips, travel, power outages or everyday mobile use.

Can it run appliances rated above 300W?

The RIVER 3 supports X-Boost, allowing it to operate compatible appliances rated up to 600W, without overload protection immediately stopping operation. X-Boost is more suitable for heating and motor-driven devices. It is not recommended for equipment with strict voltage requirements or voltage protection, such as precision instruments.

Can I charge phones, tablets and laptops?

Yes. The USB-C port delivers up to 100W, making it suitable for compatible laptops, phones, tablets, game consoles and other devices. The USB-A ports provide up to 12W per port and 24W combined.

Can I power 12V vehicle accessories?

Yes. The cigarette lighter style DC output supplies 12.6V at up to 10A, with a maximum output of 126W. Confirm that the output meets your appliance’s starting current requirements before use.

How do I recharge it from a wall outlet?

Use the supplied AC charging cable and connect it directly to a suitable grounded wall outlet. Maximum AC input is 305W. EcoFlow recommends a socket with a capacity above 10A and advises against using an extension socket.

Can I recharge the RIVER 3 with solar panels?

Yes. Its solar input supports 11–30V at up to 8A, with a maximum input of 110W. Keep the solar panel’s output voltage below 30V to avoid damaging the unit. The solar panel and solar to XT60i charging cable are not included.

Can I charge it from my car?

Yes. Car charging supports 12V or 24V input at up to 8A, with a maximum input of 100W. The EcoFlow car charging cable must be purchased separately. Start the vehicle before charging to reduce the risk of draining its battery.

How long is the battery designed to last?

The LiFePO₄ battery is designed to retain at least 80% state of health after 3,000 cycles under the manual’s stated test conditions. Actual longevity will depend on temperature, usage, charging habits and storage.

Can I use the RIVER 3 for backup power during an outage?

Yes. The standard RIVER 3 supports EPS with a transfer time within 20ms. Connect the unit to grid power and your appliance to its AC output. Because this is not a 0ms UPS, do not use it with equipment requiring uninterrupted power, such as desktops, NAS devices, data servers or workstations. EcoFlow recommends backing up only one device rated below 300W at a time.

What can I do with the EcoFlow app?

The app lets you monitor power consumption, manage settings, customise your energy preferences and receive troubleshooting guidance and firmware updates. You can connect through Wi-Fi for remote access or use Bluetooth for local control when internet access is limited.

Can I use it outdoors or take it on a plane?

You can use it outdoors with appropriate protection, but do not get it wet or immerse it in liquid. Use a waterproof bag in rainy or wet conditions, and keep it away from heat, fumes, steam and dust. The manual states that the RIVER 3 must not be carried onto a plane.

What should I do if a warning or error appears?

Check the display and follow the instructions in the EcoFlow app. For an overload, remove the connected device and retry after the warning clears. If the fan is blocked, disconnect the charging cables, turn off the unit and clear the vent. If the problem persists, stop using and charging the power station and contact us rather than attempting repairs yourself.
